Ordering ASTM Compliant vs CERTIFIED Rotax Parts & Engine
If you require ASTM compliant genuine Rotax parts for Special Light Sport Aircraft, Experimental Light Sport Aircraft, or Experimental Amateur Built Aircraft please use a dash in the Rotax part number when you are searching. For example, an oil filter would be 825-016.
If you require certified genuine Rotax parts for aircraft such at Tecnam P2006T, Tecnam P-Mentor, and others please enter the Rotax part number without a dash. For example, a certified oil filter would be 825016. If you require complete engines, please reach out to us at info@advancedpowerplant.comThere is no physical difference between ASTM compliant parts and certified parts. For all intents and purposes, they are identical. The important distinction between the two is that every certified part is accompanied with an EASA Form 1, which is essentially a European version of the FAA 8130-3. Certified parts are tracked with batch numbers from Rotax ensuring tracing ability and to minimize the chance of counterfeit parts being introduced into the spare parts supply system as well as provide more detailed traceability in case of recall or service bulletin.
Certified parts may be used in place of ASTM compliant parts without issue, but ASTM compliant parts should not be substituted for certified parts. There is no way to “convert” an ASTM compliant part to certified. If you believe you purchased certified genuine Rotax parts and do receive the proper accompanying EASA Form 1 documents, you may not have been sold certified parts. Authorized independent Rotax Service Centres such as APS are required to supply these documents to the purchaser at time of sale via physical hard copy or electronic means.
No paperwork is supplied with ASTM compliant spare parts. If your company or organization requires some sort of certificate of compliance or certificate of authenticity, etc., certified parts are the only way to obtain such paperwork. APS is happy to provide a statement on letterhead stating ASTM compliant parts were sourced directly from the USA independent Rotax distributor, but no official paperwork included with ASTM compliant parts.
